Four Syracuse ice hockey players received Atlantic Hockey America weekly honors, the conference announced Monday. The awards come after the Orange’s fourth sweep of the season, defeating Lindenwood 5-2 Friday and 5-0 Saturday.

Syracuse forward Jackson Kinsler earned six points on three goals and three assists across the series, notching her AHA Forward of the Week honors. After tallying just two points last year at Boston University, Kinsler came to Syracuse and has been a major offensive threat. The sophomore ranks second in points at SU, posting a career-high four in Friday’s win. She also scored the eventual game-winning goal in Syracuse’s then-largest scoring game of the season.

On Saturday, Kinsler continued her hot streak, tallying a goal and assist in the Orange’s biggest win of the year. Throughout the weekend, Kinsler scored three goals on just four shots.

Defensively, Sami Gendron brought home AHA Defenseman of the Week. The junior tallied five points on a pair of goals and three assists. Her first three-point game of the season came on Friday as she scored her second goal in as many games. Gendron also dished out two power-play assists, helping the Orange win game one of the series.

In game two, Gendron scored and recorded her third power-play assist of the weekend. She also finished the weekend with three blocks, leading SU’s unit that allowed just two goals.

In the net, Allie Kelley earned AHA Goaltender of the Week. The award comes a few weeks after Kelley achieved the NCAA all-time saves record on Jan. 17. Over the weekend, Kelley made 58 total saves on 60 shots, a 96.7% clip. In Saturday’s win, Kelley collected her third shutout of the season and allowed two or less goals for the fourth straight start. The graduate student currently leads the nation with 971 saves.

Rounding out Syracuse’s awards is Stella Costabile, who earned AHA Rookie of the Week. Costabile had the best weekend of her young career, collecting four points on two goals and two assists. The two wins were also Costabile’s first contests with multiple points in a game. On Friday, Costabile opened the scoring just 61 seconds in, SU’s quickest of the year.

On Saturday, Costabile scored the first goal again while assisting Nea Tervonen’s first-period score to help the Orange get out to a comfortable 2-0 lead they never relinquished. Costabile now ranks second among Syracuse freshmen with eight points.
