Jim Boeheim picked up his first guard in the Class of 2017. Current starter John Gillon will be gone at the end of the year.

Class of 2017 point guard Howard Washington has committed to Syracuse, he announced on Twitter Thursday afternoon.

Syracuse offered Washington last week after the high school senior had long expressed interest in the Orange. He is the third member of SU’s Class of 2017, joining forwards Oshae Brissett and Bourama Sidibe. Howard hails from Buffalo, and the 6-foot-2 point guard plays for Athlete Institute Basketball Academy in Ontario, Canada, with Brissett.

Washington is a four-star prospect, according to ESPN, but he’s not ranked in the Top 100. Syracuse still doesn’t have any incoming recruits in the ESPN Top 100 for the first time since ESPN compiled such rankings.
