Cam DeGeorge was the first player to verbally commit to Syracuse's 2016 recruiting class. On Monday, however, he flipped his commitment to UConn.

Class of 2016 offensive lineman Cam DeGeorge has flipped his commitment from Syracuse to Connecticut, he announced in a tweet Monday afternoon.

The new UConn pledge is now the fifth player to decommit from SU after the hiring of head coach Dino Babers, joining linebacker Will Harper, hybrid Darius Stubbs, linebacker Dymelle Parker and offensive lineman Noel Brouse.

DeGeorge, who was originally SU’s first Class of 2016 pledge, declined to explain the reasoning behind his decommitment. The Orange’s 2016 class is now down to 12 players and just two offensive linemen — Sam Heckel, who was originally recruited by Scott Shafer’s staff, and Airon Servais, who was recruited by Babers’ staff.

The Lynnfield (Massachusetts) High School product is listed as the 122nd best offensive tackle in the 2016 class by 247Sports.com’s composite rankings. He also had offers from North Carolina State, Temple, Colgate and Holy Cross.
