Welcome Week kicks off with a series of events for incoming SU freshmen. The class of 2028 fills the JMA Wireless Dome, beginning to introduce themselves.

New Student Convocation
Join the Syracuse University Chancellor and Provost in celebrating the beginning of the fall 2024 semester and welcoming a new class of students. Afterward, enjoy brunch on the JMA Wireless Dome turf with the campus community.

Convocation is open to all members of the SU community to attend in-person or virtually. A broadcast of the event can be livestreamed here.

When: August 22 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Where: The JMA Wireless Dome and Virtual

Welcome Week Fête
New students are invited to attend the Welcome Week Fête, which is Haitian Creole for “party” or “celebration.” Attendees will tour the Barner-McDuffie House and meet with members of campus organizations that serve BIPOC students.



The fête aims to help new students of color navigate the college experience, but is open to everyone regardless of race, nationality or ethnicity.

When: August 22 from 8 to 10 p.m.
Where: Women’s Building Field

Orange Blast
Don’t miss this seminal back-to-school event on the Quad. With inflatable games, obstacle courses and performances, Orange Blast is designed to bring together new and returning students for a fun-filled night.

Hoping to get more involved on campus? Stick around for the Orange Blast Involvement Fair to meet student representatives from more than 50 organizations.

When: August 23 from 8 to 10 p.m.
Where: Shaw Quadrangle

Citrus in the City
Immerse yourself in Syracuse’s campus culture during this student-favorite event. Explore everything the city has to offer by visiting local shops and enjoying samples from several restaurants. Complete with a pep rally and DJ, Citrus in the City is an event to remember.

Head to the College Place, Stadium Place or Goldstein Student Center bus stops at 5 p.m. for a ride downtown to Clinton Square. Buses will return to campus by 8:30 p.m. for Dome Sweet Dome, a required event for new first-year and transfer students.

When: August 24 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
