Syracuse’s game against Pittsburgh on Sunday was canceled due to rain and snow showers throughout the day, according to an SU Athletics announcement. The Orange were in place to complete their first sweep against an ACC opponent this season after defeating the Panthers twice in a doubleheader on Saturday. The two teams were supposed to play on Friday, but that game was also rained out.

In Saturday’s first game, Syracuse mounted a seventh-inning comeback to take a 5-4 victory. Paris Woods scored the game-winning run after dashing home on a passed ball. The second game of the afternoon featured a pitching duel between Lindsey Hendrix and Pitt’s Ally Muraskin. Syracuse snuck past the Panthers 1-0, with its only run coming when Neli Casares-Maher stole home on a wild pitch.

Syracuse emerged from the weekend as the third-worst team in the ACC standings with a conference record of 3-8. Before Saturday’s contests, the Orange had the worst record in the ACC. Syracuse shot up two spots after beating Pitt twice and Boston College losing a couple games to Duke.

SU continues its homestand next weekend with a three-game series against Notre Dame. The first game begins at 3 p.m. on Friday.
