For Indian River,  just one hurdle proved insurmountable in 2017: Whitesboro. The Warriors played 10 games last season and won eight. Both losses came to Whitesboro. In the Section III Class A championship, Whitesboro emerged with its third-straight sectional crown and Indian River had to head home.

The Warriors graduated 20 players, but they bring back one key teammate: senior running back Kwaszi Gaddis, along with three offensive line starters. Gaddis rushed for 101 yards on 10 carries the first time Indian River met Whitesboro in 2017 and scored two touchdowns on the ground the second time. For the Warriors to knock Whitesboro off the top of the Class A mountain, Gaddis and the rushing attack will be a crucial component.
